🤖 AI Open-Source Highlights｜2026-09-08 1️⃣ Hugging Face released @huggingface/kernels: the first batch includes 207 WebGPU kernels under the Apache-2.0 license. Each kernel comes with an interface, WGSL template, correctness tests, and benchmarks. It also launched Fleet, letting browsers run GPU benchmarks directly. 2️⃣ Hugging Face released funes, adding user-controlled persistent memory to coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, pi, and Hermes. Indexing, embeddings, and reranking can all be done locally, while past decisions can be retrieved and traced back to their sources. 3️⃣ OpenHands stable release v1.16.0: new capabilities include a Linux desktop installation build, LLM provider selection, and visibility into automated run stages.
